Explorations.
I always made art. As a kid I was the one called to the board to draw because I was the school artist. In high school I studied under two Houston artists who influenced me deeply and pushed me past traditional conceptions of art. One of those teachers, Charlie Gallagher, later became my employer at the newly founded DiverseWorks in Houston. Working there and being exposed to Houston's emerging and cutting edge artists deeply influenced me.
I studied art and art history at the University of Texas at Austin. I focused on figure drawing, painting, and print making.
I have always found inspiration in the human figure and in religious iconography. In 1993, I began exploring abstracted biological forms. To this day I alternate between representational and abstract expression.
